The cold weather was something that no animal was fond of. However, if one knew the correct places to go then it wasn't so bad. The cat who currently rested on a bale of hay that had begun to take on most of her body heat knew the correct places to go. Her red-gold fur was partially concealed by the huge sentinel that that rested beside her. Her daemon was a protective beast and one that would be be a formidable opponent to any cat since he was larger than most cats in the forest. The she-cat trusted the tom to protect her and worried not while he was on the lookout. If danger came he would violently intercept it. The eagle didn't have Nefertiti's calm demeanor nor did he have her patience.
The she-cat sighed happily at the warmth she felt from the eagle and from the hay bale. If only she could sleep then it would be all the more pleasant... But she couldn't... She felt restless.
"Are you hungry? Shall I catch you something?" She could feel that her daemon was just as restless as she. Nefertiti was surprised that the eagle hadn't started complaining about her laziness. "No. I'm not hungry, Stryker. I just can't sleep... But I'm unwilling to give up this warm spot." The eagle grunted impatiently. The barn was full of mice but with his large wingspan the eagle couldn't fly comfortably and thus couldn't hunt as well as he liked. He had actually been trying to get the cat to leave the barn so he could hunt elsewhere but in Nefertiti's mind that was out of the question. With a resigned sigh the eagle settled down once more with a wing draped across the cat. "I'm sorry, Stryke, I promise when the weather gets a little warmer we will go hunt all you like." The golden eagle didn't say anything out loud but Nefertiti could sense that within him his mood had lightened. "And who knows? Maybe something eventful will happen here." [/blockquote]

------ Every step she took was careful and calculated as she made her escape into the night. Of course, with her grandfather's snoring she figured an elephant could sneak past him. She was well practiced in the art of sneaking out though, and as soon as she was clear she bounded into the cool night air. "Are you deaf, or more so unstable of the mind?" Her daemon called down to her, his great wings outstretched as he flew high above. "I've seen plants with more sense than you." She snickered and continued on, slowing her pace as she traveled out of the tribal lands. Ajax landed by her side, walking rather ungracefully in contrast with his flight. "It is forbidden-" Oceana had had enough of his pestering and silenced him with a sharp slap of her tail on his beak. "Hush. I am not alone." She remarked to her companion, and with that continued their silent tread into the outsider lands.
It was often that whenever Oceana had a spark of adventure in her that she traveled far past the safety of her tribe. Whether or not her grandfather knew of this was a mystery to her, but she trusted Ajax would keep her secret. After all he was apart of her, and any pain or punishment she received so would he. And so he accompanied her always, protesting and trying to lead her back home every time. She never listened, which wasn't a surprise. It was here in the darkness of the night that she practiced her hunting. Oceana felt no danger in her doings with Ajax watching from the skies, and she hardly ever ran into any other cats out here. So it was ideal.
She was going to her favorite spot, a large field with hordes of delicious prey. And like a ghost she drifted through the grasses, catching sight of Ajax flying above every once and a while. She sprang into a hunter's crouch as she scented the air; her ears perked and mouth ajar to taste it. Before she could catch any scent though she heard the warning call of the owl. 'You are not alone child.' Was the simple message he sent to her. And immediately he saw them. Resting on the old bale of hay was a rather large eagle, but that wasn't all. She could make out fur sheltered beneath it's wing, and for sure thought it was his conquered prey.
Her slender white legs moved slowly and carefully as she approached it. However, her white fur shined in the moonlight and with the luck of the gods she would hopefully not be spotted. Though she had never had such luck before. 'Careful. There's something not right about it...' Ajax warned her again. She looked up but could no longer see her owl, and this scared her. She locked her eyes on the eagle ahead and dropped her body low to the ground, trying as hard as possible to not be seen.

Nefertiti's eyes had slowly begun to close, she wasn't asleep of course, just resting her eyes with her ears perked. She needn't have kept alert at all though because her sentinel was there, keeping watch.'I spy an owl. Shall I kill it?' Nefertiti's eyes slowly opened and she raised her head. On an unspoken signal the eagle lifted his wing and allowed the cat to get a better look around. She too spied the owl but decided that killing it would be a waste of time and energy, even for Stryker, besides what was the point? Neither was hungry. She waved a paw and settled down once more.
"No. Leave it there's- hello, what's this?" The she-cat didn't see anything but a powerful scent of cat hit her nostrils, it was the eagle with his sharp, fierce eyes who made out the form of the white she-cat sitting in the moonlight. "Well well, here's our bit of eventfulness. Shall I kill her for you?" Nefertiti let out a peal of laughter but once again waved a paw at her bloodthirsty friend. "Why are you so intent on killing something? Get your kicks somewhere else, not on our guest." The red-gold feline turned her attention to the feline before her. "Now, my friend, is something the matter? What brings you here, away from the tribe?" The white cat before her was indeed of the tribe for Nefertiti could smell the powerful scent upon her. She was very acquainted with tribe customs and wondered why or how the white queen had wandered so far from the territory.

------ It didn't take her long to realize that the cat and bird weren't hunter and prey, but something as companions. The eagle seemed to be protecting the she-cat like a guard, and she couldn't help but to be intrigued. A slight breeze went straight across her, and at once she knew that it would give her away. "hello, what's this?" Oceana could have sworn she had stopped breathing when they had spotted her. And it took a great force in her to not run from the spot when she locked eyes with the eagle. "Shall I kill her for you?" Her blue eyes widened and she rose from her crouch, even though she was almost too afraid to move. 'It's a daemon!' Ajax had finally projected to her, descending from the sky to land in front of her.
She could feel the itching excitement from him, but also how wary he was. They had never met another whom had suffered from the daemon disease, and she hoped that he was right. She too wanted to meet another like her. Ajax only settled a little bit when the she-cat had called off her too eager bird, but he still bristled a little. His soulless black eyes still watched the eagle with the utmost concern, and while Oceana was grateful for his protection she hadn't asked for it. Finding her legs she easily moved ahead of the barn owl and approached the pair, the fear in her eyes turning to curiosity. "I came to hunt, friend."
Ajax was quick to follow behind her, this time his eyes switching from the cat to the eagle. He too was just as curious, but perhaps not as enthusiastic as Oceana was. "I'd ask of you the same, but... well you're not of the tribe are you?"
|
She asked simply, cocking her head lightly to the side. It was all that she could tell that the cat was a loner, but she could have been wrong. The young cat hadn't experienced too many outside of the clan, and with the wind against her she couldn't pick up a strong scent from the pair. ------((OOC: This is badd bad badddd T_T)) [/blockquote]

The pair watched as the owl that Stryker had spotted before alighted near the white feline warily. 'It's the owl we saw earlier! ...And no you can't kill it.' If eagles could snort then Stryker probably would have. 'I wasn't going to ask that, after all, it's her daemon. Can't you tell?' Daemon? Nefertiti had yet to meet another feline afflicted with the same disease as she. Her spirits lifted and she lifted onto her haunches, eyes curios and expectant. Stryker just radiated boredom but that was normal, besides, everyone that saw the eagle would probably just think he was angry. His fierce golden eyes made sure of that.
"I came to hunt, friend." Hunt? The females of the tribe didn't hunt. Why was she out here doing so? She was about to ask the question but the female continued on so she held her peace respectfully until the tribe cat finished.
Nefertiti gave a small smile and lifted her head slightly, proudly. "I once was, but not anymore. I decided to leave." The ruddy cat leaned forward curiously and blinked. "I have another question for you now... Or rather, a question and a statement." She cleared her throat before continuing. "From my experience with the tribe, females are not supposed to hunt. Since that is the case, why are you hunting?" Nefertiti finished her words with a toothy grin. She knew very well why the she-cat was hunting. She probably had grown bored or annoyed with the tribal customs and had come out to release herself, in a a way. Nefertiti knew the feeling, it had been a factor in what caused her to leave... She wondered if the female was close to abandoning the tribe; she was already halfway there.
