[style=text-transform:uppercase;]APPEARANCE
The she-cat has an almost ghost-like appearance, and a haunting gaze that can stop any cat in their tracks. With powdery white short fur, she has no dark blemish on her coat besides maybe dust and dirt on her legs. She has a fine-haired coat and gets cold very easily, but it's very soft and easy to take care of. Her skin is a fleshy pink and shows through on her stomach and her chest, but also shows through everywhere when she's wet. Oceana also bears a scar on her nose that she got as a kit where the hair just never grew back completely. Her nose and inner ear have a fleshy pink colour as well, and give her a good portion of the lively colour she has. Another major source of colour for Oceana are her majestic bright blue eyes. She considers these her greatest feature since they harbor a taste of mystery and beauty within them. These eyes seem to stare into the very depths of other cats souls, however she sees them not. These eyes give her the most attention as she has a rather unimpressive body structure. Since she never received the nourishment from her mother, the she-cat remained small throughout her life. She's also considerably weak and can find herself easily stressed with hard labor, which she doesn't come across often. Her small body doesn't hold much muscle mass, but she's relatively healthy, and eats more than required for a cat her size.
Oceana's legs are also very skinny and long, which compliment her swift speed, and depending on the circumstance she can run for quite a long time. Her tail is long and skinny, and portray her emotions accurately. It flickers and spasmodically moves at times when she's angry or nervous, and it'll wave slowly and peacefully when she's otherwise happy. Her ears are also large projections from her small head, and take a resemblance to ears of a bat. Although Oceana thinks of herself as an ugly mess, there are significant points of beauty about her that others seem to find fascinating and even beautiful. Since she is small and weak though, her ability to have kits is questionable, and she worries that she'll be too weak to have them, and like her mother, die during the labor.
Her Daemon, Ajax, holds all the majestic characteristics of Oceana's eyes, but he holds them in his whole body. There isn't a thing about Ajax that isn't beautiful. From the soft-looking texture of his white and golden feathers, to the killing tools of his beak and talons. However, like Oceana, he also has the haunting feeling. His dark eyes seem to have no colour in them, and his voice has an almost all-knowing tone to it. Ajax also has beautiful golden-brown feathers on his wings and head, which can only be fully acknowledged when his powerful wings are spread. The most powerful thing about Ajax are his beak and talons, in which he uses as weapons for prey and protection both. When heard, his screech and hiss can chill the bones of any creature. However, these noises are only sounded as surprises or when a threat has already seen him. Ajax has the ability to make no sound when moving, whether in flight or on the ground. Making him the perfect example of a creature of stealth.
PERSONALITY
Oceana has a lot of emotions for a small cat, and she displays them all together instead of separately. She can be happy about one thing, and yet angry about that thing not going perfectly, and sad that she didn't do all she could, but then excited that the thing will indeed go well. It's an ocean of emotion. You can never seem to tell what she's thinking, and she seems to always have an opinion on everything, but doesn't usually say what she thinks about certain things. Whatever she does say her opinion on though, she holds to it firmly and defends it like it was her own child. She's motivated easily, and is very animated when excited, usually moving around quickly or talking faster than usual. The she-cat usually only speaks when spoken to, as are the customs of the females in her family. Which she tries to live by. However, she silently protests the treatment of females in the tribe and wants change. Though she isn't sure how to handle it, and doesn't know where to contact the outside cats from the tribe who too want change. She also has little hope for change. Oceana was also taught to be a lady, and knows her manners well. These manners tend to slip when she's around her grandfather, who is lax about the customs with her, and when she's alone with Ajax. She also treats females and males differently, often thinking most females are depressed individuals who will do anything to please their mates. Then thinking males are power hungry gentlemen who will do anything to please any female. It's a given, she's sexist. She knows males are the dominant gender, and thinks females are the ones who are more prone to cause trouble. Therefor she thinks more highly of males.
Because she knows that she is the last hope in her family to carry on the genes, she wants kits. Not so much a mate, for she knows Ajax will be jealous, but kits are her main priority. Oceana has also fallen in love with the idea of being a mother, she's not so much sure that she'll like it once she is one, but the idea sounds nice to her. She often falls in love with the idea of things, not actually doing the idea. The cat is also known to rush into things, often acting before thinking and then regretting it. You could also say she's reckless and irresponsible, but she has her hopes that being a nanny will cure this. It also seems like after the Daemon Disease set in she lost her conscious, and Ajax is her only voice of reason now. It's up to her if she listens to him or not though, he's mostly always right about things. About gods, Oceana knows everything about them and she believes in them, but she isn't exactly religious, probably praying to them only a few times when she's forced to.
----
Ajax has a completely different personality. While Oceana has the mind of a younger, Ajax has the mind of an older. He is wise beyond the knowledge of the elders, and often competes with them to see who is in fact wiser. The owl has a vocabulary that seems to improve every day, and he often has to tone down his usage of complicated words in order for Oceana to understand. The she-cat seems to always not listen to him anyway. The owl also acts as a sort of conscious toward the cat, and tries to lead her in the right direction, to which he only is successful some of the time. He seems to lead on to things that only he knows and that others aren't supposed to know. As if he can see into the future, but he really can't and just pretends he can. Ajax can also read body language, and has a keen eye for the real intentions of others.
While both Oceana and Ajax still have Helsia as their patron god, he prays to Milarea more often, and considers her his true patron god. The owl is definitely more religious than Oceana, and prays twice, hoping that they will count for her as well. He cares deeply for Oceana, you could almost say he loves her somewhere between a lover's love and a brother's love to his younger sister. He'd do anything for the cat that doesn't want him around most of he time. It's easy for Ajax to talk, and he talks quite a lot. You can never get bored with listening to him speak though, for he has the strangest voice that captivates the ears. His voice is almost godly, and yet it's also chilling at the same time. You can fall half in love with it, but be taken aback by it's haunting tone. His voice seems to promise you everything, but gives you only words. It frightens most when they first hear it, but once you get used to it you find it soothing.
The owl is her better half, according to them both. He has manners that he uses toward every creature, sometimes he forgets them when he's angry at Oceana, but even she witnesses his courteous ways. Ajax has no thoughts toward the tribe's customs and feels that he should leave the tribe's affairs with the tribe, since they have no laws against owls yet. Not even laws against daemons, yet. He fears its only a matter of time before the tribe gets out of hand and moves down a path away from the gods intentions. The opinions that Ajax does have he proclaims proudly, but has been known to be indecisive about certain things.
HISTORY
Cats weren't sure how they should have reacted to Oceana's birth, for while it was a joyous moment it was also very tragic. The gentle Helen had died while giving birth to her only daughter, but died being a mother; the only way she would have had it. The young and prematurely birthed kit wasn't named right away, but was claimed by Helsia straight away. There was also a conflict in who would raise the kit, and since the father was nowhere to be found, it was decided that Spartak, the closest relative, would raise her. It was with the opening of her curiously bright eyes that she was named Oceana, after the ocean. Oceana went through a great number of nannies and queens who had milk to spare, but none of them stayed with her for long. They all complained that the kit was troubled, or that she was ill. However, she was not. Oceana didn't enjoy being with these females because she thought they were trying to take her mothers place, and so she pushed them away.Spartak was the one she truly felt at home with, and she'd always go with him everywhere, and ask him endless questions about everything. The older tom would spend hours teaching the kit about the gods, the tribe, and about how nature and other things worked. He also in secret taught her small lessons about hunting and fighting, just for her own health and safety. Oceana would take in all these things like a sponge, and knew more things than most of her nannies knew. She was a late shifter though, and while the other kits her age were already experimenting with shifting, she was having trouble just starting. It wasn't confirmed that she had Non-control Shape-shift Disorder, but it was assumed. She eventually got the hang of shifting, but once she found that she was a common shifter, she felt embarrassed. Her mother, her grandfather, and even her father were rare shifters, but why was she not? The kit felt like an outcast, and downed herself, often rejecting her shifting form and blaming the gods. She had asked her grandfather many times why she was just common, but he just smiled and told her, 'Everyone is different, and everyone has their own purpose in life. You don't have to be rare to be important. The gods just set a different path for you.' It always confused her more.
Oceana grew up, but she always looked small and weak. She always hated her shifting form as well, and refused to shift. The cat imagined the gods were probably upset with her as well, for she had rejected their gift to her. It wasn't til the disease hit her that she changed her mind, Daemon Disease that is. The sweep of the disease effected few, but it caught her. She thought she had caught a fever at first, but when it didn't go away and kept getting more painful she began to worry. Perhaps the gods were punishing her? Then, like a tree had fallen on her, she felt a seemingly long slash of pain that was worse than before. Then darkness. When she had awoken it seemed like she had been sleeping for days, and the light of the full moon hurt her eyes.
"Why do you reject me so?"
The voice was frightening, like a supernatural being was talking to her from the sky, like a god had made contact with her. And yet, it sounded so close, and so familiar. Her head pounded and her eyes adjusted to the dim light of the moon, her eyes searching for the being that spoke to her. A flutter of wings caught her eyes, and she cried out in fear, "Who- Who are you?". At first there was no answer, and then a more terrifying, yet somehow appealing laughter filled the air.
"Why, I'm you! Or, at least I was you. Now, I'm just a separate being, doomed to follow you around this earth. Ironic. First you never wanted me around, and now you won't be able to get rid of me!"
Oceana had never felt so scared in her life. Could it be? Had she actually separated from her shift form? With a considerable amount of effort she tried to shift, but only found a blank where she would normally have found her owl form. Another horrific laugh came from the stranger, and the sound of movement seemed to be all around her. Finally, the sounds stopped, and silently the barn owl landed in front of her. His eyes were unemotional, and he frightened her.
"Well, don't we have a dilemna?"
Her eyes widened, for his beak didn't move an inch, but his voice projected into her ears. Could it be that he was actually speaking through her mind? The she-cat, startled, backed up quickly until she was at a considerable length from the owl. "Who are you? What do you want?" She questioned again, her eyes never leaving the owl's body. The creature seemed to shake it's head, and this time spoke through his beak.
"What I want from you is everything you want from me. Who I am? Well, your daemon, Ajax."
This time, his voice was almost soothing, but also powerful. Ajax. Daemon. She could have never imagined that this would happen, and the experience was all too much. At that moment the world seemed to be spinning, and she blacked out again. That was two months ago, and since then she grew to accept her daemon and even partially like him. The two aren't perfect friends, and they differ in decisions and feelings, but they fit together. You could almost say the two are like brother and sister.[/style]
