[style=text-transform:uppercase;]APPEARANCE
feline -- castiel is a large cat, his big bones wrapped in thick muscles wrapped in thick, fluffy fur. we'll start from the ground up with him. his big paws are all white, which continues up his legs and spread across his belly. his tail is a mix of thrown together colors, as is the rest of his body. black, gray, white, and brown. his long fur has no specific pattern, more like random blotches of color next to a different blotch of color on white. now his head, also big and shaped like an equilateral triangle, is mostly brown and black white his face is white, with a patch of color over one eye. his eyes, speaking of, are probably the least menacing thing about this male, being a warm green-blue color. castiel is a norwegian forest cat, larger, sturdier, and stronger in build than an average feline. shift -- castiel's shift form is an emerald tree boa. this snake is about six feet long with proportionately larger fangs than most other non-venomous snakes. his appearance consists of a beautiful green colored body with stark white 'lightning bolts' down his length and a yellow belly. he has pale yellow eyes, a white and pink mouth, and a purple-black forked tongue. in this form, he generally spends his times coiled around thick branches and waiting for his favorite frog prey, but can also be seen slithering along the ground in search of something else to do.
PERSONALITY
castiel is not a special. he is not a war hero, a rare shifter, the father of many fantastic other males. no. he is a common shifter, a big cat with the power to shift into a beautiful snake. he may not deserve much, but in his eyes, castiel deserves everything. he is a full fledged believer and follower of the gods and their laws. tradition is everything. females have their place, and they should be happy that they don't need to worry their pretty little heads over fighting and hunting. let the males feed them, keep them healthy to have their kits. that is all the tribe has every known, the way it was meant to be. males also have their place in the tribe, doing the heavy lifting and moving, doing all they can to please the gods and stand their ground against the loners. balance is key here, why would one want to tip the scales? his faith in tradition and love of his gods should grant him some special ability or honor, should it not? but yet the gods don't seem to see it this way. vulcanrin though.. yes, vulcanrin is castiel's patron god. vulcanrin is also zephyros patron god. this makes cas a loyal follower and self-made protector of the tribe's leader. he believes and agrees with anything zephyros has to say. he agrees that females need to stay in their place. he agrees that the traditions need to be pressed, that the rules should be air tight. but while he is agreeing and following, his hunger for power is painful in his belly. maybe vulcanrin simply just can't get enough, or perhaps it really is castiel's inner demons. he is the strong one, he has the capabilities, doesn't he? he should be the leader.
in all, castiel is such a conflicted kitten, he doesn't know which form is really him. is he the good, firm believer and follower that he used to be when he was younger? will his constrictor shift form become a stronger personality and allow him to choke and snuff out anything in his way? is vulcanrin behind his wishes for power? or has castiel simple turned into a darker being over time? why? what he does know is that for now, he is content being a male with more respect than others, happy with a leader that shares the same values and traditional-ness as he, and he'll be happy to serve this leader and do his part in fathering more excellent males to make the tribe's next generation bigger and stronger. literally.
(yes, this is very choppy and probably doesn't make sense most of the way through, but it's basically from castiel's point of view, and he's a confused little boy, so i've tried to create his personality as if he were thinking about it himself.. yeah. xD)
HISTORY
castiel had no special upbringing. his mother was not well respected, his father was not the most favorable of the tribe. no, just like any other kitten, he was born because he was needed. his nanny mother, elise, was chosen by a big male, nedrir, because of her neutral personality and physical strength. she was a pretty enough long hair brown and black cat with an odd strength that most nannies don't generally have. he was an uncommon shifter who wanted a son or two to pass on the ways to. cas was born alongside two others, talluah, a sister, and rainyon, a brother. because of the tribe traditions and laws, castiel never had much of a relationship with his mother or sister. sure, they played when they were young, but talluah was always underneath her mother's wing, already learning what it meant to be a nanny, being lied to about her importance within the tribe almost immediately. he was quickly whisked away by his father and taught the ways of the tribe and the cats, and castiel soon fell in love with his gods and their power. he learned about the mating and kitting, about 'love' between two felines being nearly nonexistent, about each of the gods and godesses- his father felt it was important to have his sons memorize each and every one of them, even if they didn't pray to the females.his father taught him how to control his shifting, so that there wasn't snake slithering around the cats all of the time. his shift form grew with him, first starting off as a brick red, foot long serpent and growing into the six footer beauty it now is. castiel learned to use his shift form when needed, to surprise other felines (not so needed) and to hunt when feline forms weren't working. as his father aged though, he died from the wear and tear of fighting and hunting. His mother had also died, but it wasn't a great loss to him. Females always died at an early age compared to males, their health deteriorating with each litter. it was the way of life, not a sad thing. castiel didn't have that much of a relationship with his brother either, and wasn't exactly sad to see him leave the tribe for lack of faith in the gods and goddesses. perhaps the first sign that vulcanrin was there within him, watching over this big cat, was that he was happy that his brother was gone in truth, leaving him to be the handsome, strong beast.
as castiel grew older, he became much closer to vulcanrin when zephyros was named leader- he shared his patron god. it is obviously not uncommon for cats with the same patron god to gravitate toward each other, and so it was simple for castiel to become nearly obsessed with zephyros' ways of leading the tribe- cracking down on nannies, especially. but then he became so obsessed with not zephyros, but what the leader had that he did not- power. and we all know what happens when big, strong males who just so happen to have evil patron gods become infatuated with power..[/style]
